Spiritual Life
Do not conform yourselves to this age
but be transformed by the renewal of your mind,
that you may discern what is the will of God,
what is good and pleasing and perfect.
Romans 12:2
Overview: We truly believe, after receiving a Catholic education, our students will be emboldened to answer the call to holiness and become change agents in every endeavor they pursue.
Philosophy: Our Lady of Mercy is committed to forming students into compassionate individuals who will serve our communities in the future. We provide a college-prep curriculum where all students can succeed in academics, grow in their faith, and explore their interests, while feeling safe, accepted and encouraged. We challenge our students to integrate the values of Jesus Christ and the sacraments in their everyday lives.
Role of Chaplain
Ministry of Presence
The chaplain affirms the gifts and efforts of students, faculty, staff and parents—the people who make Mercy Catholic a special place.
Liturgical Leadership
The chaplain leads the Mercy Catholic family when it gathers for worship. The chaplain coordinates the planning of liturgical celebrations to ensure that the liturgies are accessible to adolescents and a religiously diverse student population.
Pastoral Care
The chaplain is available to students, faculty and staff for spiritual and emotional support. Parents are also able to request the support of the chaplain as they seek to meet the needs of their students.
Retreats
The chaplain coordinates the annual class retreats for students and retreats for faculty and staff. Retreats are intended to provide participants with an opportunity to pray, socialize and recommit to spiritual concepts and aspirations such as the five core virtues of Mercy Catholic.
Campus Ministry Team
An interdisciplinary team of faculty and staff collaborates to plan, implement and assess spiritual life programming at Mercy Catholic.
