Dream Season comes to an end for Mercy Volleyball

October 24th, 2010

The Mercy Volleyball team ended the best season in program history at the Elite Eight. The #1 ranked Blessed Trinity Titans proved too much on Saturday as the Cats fell 0-3. Blessed Trinity came into the match at 54-7 and were as advertised. "BT had many weapons and were solid all the way around the court", said Coach Schmitz. "We never really got our attack going and BT made it tough for our passers."

Through this storied run at a possible state championship, Mercy earned its long due respect from the high school volleyball community. Playing top ranked teams throughout the season helped the Cats prepare for the state tournament. Seniors Brittany Smith, Amanda Miles and Nicole Gagnier will be missed and their contributions are well noted and appreciated.

Don't be surprised to see next year's team in the state tournament hunt next October - Mercy returns five starters and there is some great talent in the JV and feeder program.

Congratulations to the Mercy Volleyball team on a fantastic season!
