Girls Tennis Wins on the Road

February 25th, 2011

The Mercy Tennis team travelled for its first road match yesterday against First Presbyterian Day School in Macon.

For the boys, singles players Lake McGuffie and Charlie Faber, and doubles teams Devlin/Dabadee, Gould/Morris, and Lance McGuffie/Davis all took games in their matches.  However, regardless of the score, the boys all elevated their level of play from the previous week.

On the girls side, singles players Brandi Nelson and Jordan Hameen, and doubles team Jones/Banos won their matches giving the girls the victory, 3-2.  Jones/Banos battled hard in a long, first set tie-breaker, eventually winning 8-6. Tayler Murray rallied back from a set down to win the 2nd set before falling in a tough 3rd set tiebreak.

Both the boys and girls team played extremely well, improving from the week before. Their next match is at Eagles Landing Christian Academy on Thursday, March 4th.
