Girls' Tennis State Run ends at Sweet Sixteen

April 29th, 2011

On Tuesday, the Lady Bobcats Tennis Team was looking to make the round of the Elite Eight when they travelled to the Country Club of Roswell to take on Mt. Pisgah.  However, their cinderella run at the State title ended as the #1 state-ranked Pisgah team took the match 4-0.

"Our girls played really well Tuesday, but Pisgah has an extremely talented team and they came up with all the big points. They will definitely be a force to be reckoned with as they progress through the tournament, " said Coach Haaland. "I am so very proud of our girls and all they have accomplished this season. They surpassed their goals for the season and more importantly, they have left a legacy at Mercy by getting to the Sweet Sixteen and making school history."

The Lady Bobcats finished the regular season 6-2 (4-2 in Region play), and 5-3 in the postseason.  They ended the season 3rd in Region 9A, but went further than any team in the region in State Tournament play.

The Boys and Girls Tennis Team Banquet will be held on Tuesday, May 17 at 6:30 PM at OLM.
