Bridier wins Mercy Invite

About 3,000 athletes and fans descended upon Our Lady of Mercy's campus Saturday morning for the annual Mercy Cross Country Invitational.

One of the young athletes who intimately knows the nuances of Mercy's top-tier home course took home the big prize.

Jonathan Bridier, a Mercy senior, came from behind to lead the 143 runners in the varsity boys field to the finish line.

"Jonathan was a part of a couple of state championship teams for us as a freshman and sophomore," said Mercy head coach Matt Hofkes, who coordinated the meet.

"He's entering the season with some lofty goals and he's coming off of a hard summer of training."
