Gagnier Makes National Volleyball List

February 14th, 2011

Congrats to Mercy Volleyball senior, Nicole Gagnier for being named to Prepvolleyball.com's 3rd team Academic All American.

Here is the write up on Nicole in the national press release:

Nicole Gagnier, 5-10 S/RS, Our Lady of Mercy Catholic (Fayetteville, Georgia) – A four-year member of Student Government, Yearbook editor for two years and an active leader in Our Lady of Mercy’s “House” system (akin to the “schools within schools” concept), Gagnier is an unquestioned leader among her peers. She is the school’s valedictorian, boasting a perfect 4.0 GPA and is President of the Student Government. “She frequently offers creative ideas for new ways to involve and motivate our student body,” said Cynthia Launay-Fallasse: French teacher, Head of the House system and Student Government moderator. “She listens to her peers and is diplomatic when discussing divisive topics. Her leadership abilities were so impressive that she was chosen by the faculty to be the president of her House.” On the court, Gagnier is an ace-serving machine who used her athletic frame and big arm to hold down the right side early in the 2010 season, then transitioned to setter after the starter became injured and finished with 580 helpers. An All Area pick and Honorable Mention All County, Gagnier will continue her academic and volleyball career at M.I.T. in Boston.
