Respect LIFE Month at OLM

September 29th, 2011

Did you know that October is Respect Life Month around the country? Well, Mercy for Life has plenty of opportunities for students, faculty and parents to participate:

Sunday, October 2nd: Life Chain in Jonesboro at 3pm and Peachtree City at 4pm. These prayer vigils are held throughout the country to peacefully and prayerfully draw awareness to abortion in our country and to pray for an end to abortion. Mercy has participated in these Life Chains for several years. The Mercy community is an important reason why these are so successful in our area! The Jonesboro location is across from the courthouse in downtown Jonesboro in front of the Jonesboro United Methodist Church. The Peachtree City Life Chain is held on the front lawn of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

Tuesday, October 11th: In coordination with the American Red Cross, Mercy will be offering a Blood Drive from 7:30am-12:30pm in the gym. We REALLY need parents to support this. Our goal this year is 40 pints. We recently learned that for every pint of blood, at least three people can be assisted. We do have a appointment schedule for the day, so if you intend to donate blood, a reservation needs to be set with Mr. Tolcher.

Saturday, October 22nd: A small number of students will be volunteering at the Hapeville Pregnancy Center. Volunteers are needed.

Mercy for Life will also be supporting the Cheerleader Challenge "Change for Change" donation efforts to be collected for the American Cancer Society. Mercy is also joing forces with Wellspring, a local organization that helps victims of human trafficking. We will be offering an educational opportunity at the school, volunteering at the center, and initiating a fundraiser to offer Mercy's support.

Additionally, the group has several prayer and educational opportunities being offered throughout each school day.

Get involved and celebrate life!!
