On Saturday, Our Lady of Mercy graduated the fifty-six students in the Class of 2011 during its ninth commencement exercises.  In keeping with tradition, the graduation ceremony was held within the Baccalaureate Mass which was celebrated by Most Reverend Wilton D. Gregory, the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Atlanta.

Mercy's talented AMA Taize choir sang for the Mass and was augmented by the voices of several Mercy alumni including David Conley '08 and Isis Freeman '10. Other special guests present were Dr. Diane Starkovich, Superintendent of Schools for the Archdiocese and Tom Campbell, Associate Superintendent.

After the Liturgy of the Eucharist, Mercy Principal Danny Dorsel welcomed all families, visitors, and guests present as well as the graduates.  Then several students were honored with the following awards:

Christian Service Award:
Emily Conley and Colin Schmidt

Archbishop John Donoghue Christian Athlete Award (sponsored by the Knights of Columbus Council 6352):

Following the award presentation, Mercy salutatorian Andrea Raville gave a thoughtful speech remembering her experiences at Mercy and how they parallel the world of Harry Potter. Andrea will be attending the United States Naval Academy. Valedictorian Nicole Gagnier, who will be at MIT in the fall, worked in a few statistics into her speech, ending with a euphoric "We did it!"
