Varsity Girls Basketball competes in Local Thanksgiving Tournament

November 30th, 2010

Last week,  the varsity girls basketball team played in the Locust Grove Thanksgiving Tournament. While the Lady Bobcats did not come away with any wins,  the team played very hard and showed their will to compete. In the first game, the girls lost to Ola High School 30 - 17 as they had a difficult time scoring, but battled the entire game. The team was led by Yarahi Castillo and Chyna Terrell with 6 points each.

The Bobcats dropped the second game to Locust Grove 40 - 25. The game remained close as the girls trailed by only 6 points going into the fourth quarter. Chyna Terrell led the team in scoring with 11 points  and Yarahi Castillo followed with 6 points. In the final game, Strong Rock jumped out early and Mercy fell 38 - 27.

The girls played great defense throughout the tournament and in the final game, the Lady Bobcats had more people involved in scoring. Yarahi Castillo led the team with 7 points with Kiesha Louis-Charles and Paige Goemaere each added 6 points. Morgan McClure had her best game of the tournament, adding 4 points. Chyna Terrell and Kristin McClure each added 2 points.  Nadia Ponder and Iyanna Carlies both contributed well defensively.

The varsity girls look for the first win if the season against Landmark on Tuesday, Nov. 30th. They then play at AIS Friday before their first home game on Saturday, December 4th against Walker. Come out and support the Lady Bobcats!
