Mercy Welcomes Alumni Back With A Victory

When Our Lady of Mercy High School defeated Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy 35-26 on homecoming night, Oct. 8, it reached a historic milestone by capturing more than four victories in a single season. Sophomore running back Rashard Fant led the offensive attack as he scored a touchdown in each quarter. Fant ran from six yards out in the first quarter, caught a pass from Mercy quarterback Lance McGuffie and ran for a 66-yard score in the second, ran back a kickoff return in the third for 86 yards and ran in a l3-yard reception from McGuffie in the fourth. Senior running back Greg Hadley led Mercy in rushing with 16 carries for 82 yards and one touchdown. On defense Cam Singletary had two interceptions, while Lake McGuffie and Pierce Vincent were the leading tacklers with nine and eight, respectively. Mercy (5-1) travels to Locust Grove to face Strong Rock Christian School, Friday, Oct. 15.
