SPARK: Open Mic Night Debut
December 10th, 2010
Spark, Mercy's own literary and art magazine hosted its first ever "Open Mic Night" last Wednesday, December 8th. The editor of Spark, junior Emma Bush, came up with the idea to allow our poets and musicians a unique opportunity to display their talents. Students along with faculty shared poetry and song to a packed house. Spark Club converted the library to the "Mercy Coffeehouse" complete with coffee, teas, hot cocoa, and baked goods. Spontaneity was the vibe of the night as poets wandered up to the microphone to honor Mother Mary, John Lennon, and John F. Kennedy and musicians jammed to tunes from Beyonce to The Maine along with original lyrics and music.
There are plans to celebrate Poetry Month in April with another open mic night-stay tuned for more exciting news from Spark!
