Mercy Baseball Notches First Victory

March 16th, 2011

The baseball team travelled to west Georgia Wednesday afternoon to battle the Eagles of Mt. Zion High School.  The Bobcats jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning only to see Mt. Zion answer with 3 runs in the second inning and 2 more in the third to even the score at 5-5.  Still in the third, John Keuler came on in relief of Tevin Tyler and kept the Eagles at bay for the rest of the game.

Mercy added 8 runs in the fourth inning and 2 more in the seventh to seal the victory.  Justin Larkin was 4 for 5 for the Bobcats and John Keuler and Christian Griffith were both 3 for 5 with a couple of RBI's.   The team will host Whitefield Friday at 4:30 in what will be their first region 9A contest.  Congratulations Bobcats!
